Next Month: Animal Rescue Awareness Month

July 19, 2016

As we’re wrapping up our powerful charitable focus for July, it’s time to look forward to August – and our new charitable focus: Animal Rescue Awareness Month! There are more than 13,600 community animal shelters nationwide hosting 7.6 million companion animals every year. Approximately 2.7 million shelter animals are adopted each year (1.4 million dogs and 1.3 million cats), and 649,000 animals who enter shelters as strays are returned to their owners. No doubt about it – that’s a lot of animals for such a small amount of shelter space. Those animals and shelters need our help!

If you can, please lend a hand to our four-legged (and winged, and crawling …) friends needing a safe place to thrive on August 20, as we recognize International Homeless Animals Day. Other events during the month include International Assistance Dog Week, August 7-13; International Cat Day on August 8; National Take Your Cat to the Vet Day on August 22; and National Dog Day on August 26.

If you volunteer with an animal shelter or rescue organization, or have any suggestions for events or initiatives we can implement to help support our August charitable initiative, reach out to us at ccf@carringtonmh.com. Let’s give our adoptable furry and feathered friends – and those who care for them – some extra support and love!
