Next Month: Military Awareness Month

June 22, 2016

July is right around the corner, and so is our next charitable initiative: Military Awareness Month. In addition to honoring our troops with various initiatives, as well as participating in the Green Light a Vet event, we’re also going to be participating in Boxes for our Troops.

Boxes for our Troops is a program that sends care packages to our active military. “By sending care packages overseas to our troops that are deployed, we’re sending them a little piece of home and supporting them from afar,” says Shelly Rose Lawrence, CCF’s Director of Community Relations. “In the past, we’ve gotten kind notes back from some of the men and women who receive them. It’s a nice way to feel like you’re helping someone out, and to help give back to the soldiers who are giving so much for us here at home.”

We’ll have more information on how to get involved in the first July newsletter, but here’s a little something to get you started. In July, we’ll be looking for donations of non-perishable food items, socks, notepads, pencils and anything else you think would be nice to receive in a care package from home. Alternately, you can donate money to help CCF purchase the items to donate to the boxes. Each office will collect donations through the first two weeks of July, and in mid-July, each office will hold a packing party and arrange to ship out the boxes.

There will be prizes for those who donate and support Green Light a Vet. Let’s get together and show our Veterans and our troops how much we care. If you have questions or suggestions about participating, reach out to us at ccf@carringtonmh.com. Help us send a little love to our troops!
