The Golf Classic is Just Six Months Away
The annual CCF Golf Classic is only six months away … and will be here sooner than you think.
Now in its 7th year, the CCF Golf Classic will take place on Monday, Oct. 9, at The Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Coast, CA. Last year, more than 250 golfers attended to help raise more than $2.2 million for wounded Veterans. True to the CCF mission, the Golf Classic raises funds to support Carrington House, our signature program providing specialized housing for wounded Veterans, and the Veterans Airlift Command, which offers transportation to wounded Veterans who need support.
And although the event includes a fun day of golf, it’s so much more than that. Once everyone filters off the greens and the sun goes down, an evening banquet and auction celebrates Veterans who have given so much to help protect our country’s freedom. Honored Veteran guests share their courageous stories, reminding us of what it costs to keep the peace and freedom we enjoy. Thanks to the CCF Golf Classic donations, Carrington House has now completed 17 custom, adaptive homes for Veterans in need of specialized living quarters, and three more are on the way. CCF has also expanded its mission through its new Veterans Support Program, giving Vets the help they need to get healthy, find work and even start their own businesses. Funds have also greatly supported the Veterans Airlift Command, which helps Veterans and their families prepare for the next phase of their lives by flying them to medical facilities across the country so they might heal from combat injuries.
We’re proud that the CCF Golf Classic is growing, and has attracted so many supporters. It was recognized by the Orange County Business Journal multiple times, as the Top Netting Golf Event in Orange County for 2015 and 2016 in their annual Charity Guide. And while we’re pleased it is gaining press recognition, that’s not why we do it. The Golf Classic has always been about supporting our nation’s brave Veterans, and giving them everything they need to live a full, happy and healthy life once they return home.
But until October, we have a lot of fundraising to do – and we need your help. Whether you’ve participated in the Golf Classic before or you’re new to the event, there are many ways you can help make this year’s event the biggest yet. We’ll be working on gathering auction items, calling on Associates to create themed baskets – such as a fitness-themed basket, movie night-themed basket, sports- or tailgate-themed basket, kid-themed baskets or holiday-themed basket. Leading up to the event, we’ll need help with stuffing swag bags, organizing the silent auction, help with marketing initiatives and even outreach to sponsors and donors. And, of course, we’ll need volunteers to help out at Pelican Hill the day of the event.
If you’d like to help us make the 7th annual CCF Golf Classic an unqualified success, we’d love to hear from you. E-mail us at ccf@carringtonmh.com. Our nation’s Veterans need you!
