Carrington Associates make MLK Day a Day On...Not a Day Off
January 18th marked the 22nd annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and most businesses were closed in honor of the day; however, because MLK Jr. Day is a congress-mandated Day of Service in partnership with the Corporation for National and Community Service, we issued a challenge to our fellow Carrington colleagues to make it a day on instead of a day off, and volunteer their time to a worthy cause.
Two of our Southern California Carrington associates, Brittany Barnes and Stefan Tran, organized a day on event and volunteered their time at the Palos Verdes Land Conservancy White Point Preserve in Long Beach, CA. The area is renowned for restoring 102 acres of a coastal sage scrub habitat, and it’s thanks to dedicated volunteers that the habitat continues to thrive. Both Brittany and Stefan worked with more than 60 other local volunteers to plant shrubs, spread mulch and do general park and trail maintenance throughout the day.
We congratulate Brittany and Stefan for their charitable dedication, and hope that it inspires others to do their part in kind. Our charitable 2016 is off to a great start – let’s see how much good we can do this year!
