CCF Flies Veterans to Boston Marathon
Carrington Charitable Foundation was honored to have flown our Ambassador and wounded Hero, US Army MSG John Masson, and a group of participants from the Achilles International Freedom Team to the Boston Marathon.
Carrington’s flight crew transported marathon participants through the Veterans Airlift Command (VAC), and not only assisted with transportation, but also joined the Achilles International volunteers in helping out with the race and cheering on participants.
Achilles International is a non-profit organization that provides athletes with disabilities a community of support, and has developed specialized programs for military Veterans. Those returning home as amputees from Iraq and Afghanistan are given the opportunity to build confidence and work towards personal athletic goals to achieve during their difficult rehabilitation period.
Through collaboration with the VAC, CCF assists Achilles by providing running programs, equipment, and amenities that make it possible for military members with serious injuries to compete in athletics.
Congratulations to all participants for accomplishing this impressive goal of being part of the Boston Marathon!
