CCF Helps Raise Over $32,000 for Breast Cancer Research & Care
In a wave of never-ending pink spirit, Carrington Associates Tami O’Neill, Emilia Castillo, Renee Deane, Michael Dorner, DeAnn Johnson and Lisa Gravelle walked over 60 miles in 3 days for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Walk in San Diego, California. With the combined efforts of the team and a grant from Carrington Charitable Foundation, over $32,000 was donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation to assist with breast cancer research and support programs.
The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure raises significant funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer, celebrates breast cancer survivorship, and honors those who have lost their battle with the disease in a global series of more than 150 races with 1.6 million people participating on four continents.
Congratulations to all the event participants for making a true impact on breast cancer and the fight for a cure!
“The 3 day, 60 mile adventure across San Diego was an unforgettable journey! Special thanks to the Carrington Charitable Foundation for generously supporting the Carrington 3 day walkers!”
Julie Beamish, 3 Day Walker
“Cancer changes us, there is no doubt about that, but it’s up to us to decide what that change will mean in our lives, and who we will become as a result. It’s amazing seeing all the support from friends and family. Thank you to our team, Renee, Lisa, Julie, Dinorah and Mike, who made the 3-day 60-mile walk a very special journey! A very special THANK YOU to Tami for all her support; her courage is unbelievable- she rocks!”
Emilia Castillo, 3 Day Walker & Survivor
“2013 was my fourth year walking in the SGK 3 Day and it was the best one yet! The weather was gorgeous and we were surrounded by, and reminded of, reasons we should continue to make strides to end breast cancer. 60 miles is a short distance to walk to draw attention and gain support for such a worthy cause. Despite the aches and pains, the event was amazing and motivating! I’m signed up for year #5 already!”
DeAnn Johnson, 3 Day Walker
“It was an absolutely amazing journey and I was very fortunate to have such a great and supportive team to get me through the 3 days and 60 miles. Special thanks to Tami and Emilia who were on our team and, fortunately, breast cancer survivors, for showing us first timers the ropes. Their courage is incredible and they are truly an inspiration to us all.”
Renee Deane, 3 Day Walker
“As a 4 year survivor and 4th time walker, it was an honor to walk 60 miles over 3-days with my fellow Carrington ‘Oh My Girls’ team members. Together, along with all who supported us, we gave hope, strength and courage to those facing the journey to survivorship! It was an awe-inspiring journey, filled with friendship, laughter, tears, blisters and twisted ankles, creating a weekend to remember. To the power of pink; stay strong and carry on.”
Tami O’Neill, “Oh My Girls” Team Captain & Survivor
“I was: Honored to be part of such a dedicated and caring team; Overwhelmed by San Diego’s tremendous amount of support along the route; Thankful to CCF for their generous contribution to our team; Thrilled with the amount of money we raised to help fight this disease; Inspired by the survivors and their commitment to the cause; and Never so glad to see a Finish Line in my life!”
Lisa Gravelle, 3 Day Walker
“The 3 Day Walk was a fantastic experience. Not only did I get a chance to raise money and bring awareness to a great cause, but along the 60 miles witnessed so much enthusiasm and determination to defeat breast cancer. There is really no way to describe the crowds that came out to cheer us on; they were fun and creative one-of-a-kind folks. Also after this event and having spent time with Tami and Emilia, I will never again complain (at least too much) about those every day aches and pains and hurdles that life throws at us. Thanks for letting me be a part of the team.”
