CCF Matches Donations to April’s Charitable Walk Events

The Walk for Multiple Sclerosis in California and the Great Strides Walk for Cystic Fibrosis in Michigan brought Carrington Associates across the country together in the mission to raise funds and awareness for medical causes this April. To support our Associates’ efforts, Carrington Charitable Foundation matched the donations raised by the teams through their online CCF fundraising pages and helped contribute over $1,000 to these Associate-driven causes.

Carrington Associates Lisa Wayman and Wendy Grant led “Team Holly” for the Walk for Multiple Sclerosis (MS) on April 19th in Carlsbad, California and ended up raising $1,200 overall for the cause. CCF will also be adding $390 to that total with funds that were raised and matched through the foundation. Every hour in the United States, someone is newly diagnosed with MS, a disease of the central nervous system. Millions of people are affected by MS and the challenges of living with its unpredictable symptoms, which range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis. This disease interrupts the flow of information between the brain and the body and stops the body from moving. The progress, severity and specific symptoms in any one person cannot yet be predicted, but advances in research and treatment are moving us closer to a world free of MS.

Walking to support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation on April 25th in Frankenmuth, Michigan, Carrington Associate Jennifer Schuler led her team to raise over $600 for the cause. CCF will also be adding $200 to that total with funds that were raised and matched through the foundation. An estimated 30,000 children and adults in the United States have Cystic Fibrosis (CF), a life-threatening genetic disease that primarily affects the lungs and digestive system. According to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, in people with CF, a defective gene and its protein product cause the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections. The condition also obstructs the pancreas to stop natural enzymes from helping the body break down food and absorb vital nutrients. About 1,000 new cases are diagnosed each year and more than 75% of those with CF are diagnosed by age 2.
