CCF Matches Donations to Cystic Fibrosis New York Walk

The Great Strides Walk in Tarrytown, New York brought Carrington Associates together in the mission to raise funds and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis this May. Led by Carrington Associate Andrew Taffet in support of his brother and others who face Cystic Fibrosis, the walk helped bring the world closer to a cure and fund research and support programs for those touched by the disease.

To support our Associates’ efforts, Carrington Charitable Foundation's Board of Directors not only matched the donations raised by the team through their online CCF fundraising page, but also increased the pledge and donated $5,000 to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation!

An estimated 30,000 children and adults in the United States have Cystic Fibrosis (CF), a life-threatening genetic disease that primarily affects the lungs and digestive system. The mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is to cure Cystic Fibrosis and provide all people with the disease the opportunity to lead full, productive lives by funding research and drug development, promoting individualized treatment, and ensuring access to high-quality, specialized care.

According to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, in people with CF, a defective gene and its protein product cause the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections. The condition also obstructs the pancreas to stop natural enzymes from helping the body break down food and absorb vital nutrients. About 1,000 new cases are diagnosed each year and more than 75% of those with CF are diagnosed by age 2. Thank you to everyone who donated or participated at the event to help find a cure for CF!
