John Masson’s 5th Boston Marathon

April 20, 2016

Carrington transported our very own CCF Ambassador, Master Sergeant John Masson, U.S. Army (Ret), to the Boston Marathon this past weekend as a donated flight for the Veteran’s Airlift Command (VAC). John was severely wounded in October 2010 while serving in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, and was decorated with a Purple Heart medal for his injuries and a second Bronze Star medal for his actions in combat. After returning home, John stayed strong during his recovery with such activities as hand cycling, weight lifting, swimming – and competing in marathons. He continues to share his story, and encourages others to understand the struggle wounded Veterans face on the road to recovery. John hand cycled during the marathon as part of the Achilles International Team. He finished 5th in his group and crossed the finish line at 1 hour 44 mins and 41 seconds. We all wish John congratulations on completing his 5th Boston Marathon!
