Join the Great Strides Walk for Cystic Fibrosis

March 27, 2015

Join Carrington Associate Jennifer Schuler for the Great Strides Walk supporting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation on April 25th in Frankenmuth, Michigan! An estimated 30,000 children and adults in the United States have Cystic Fibrosis (CF), a life-threatening genetic disease that primarily affects the lungs and digestive system. Each step brings us closer to a world free of CF, and your participation can help the mission to find a cure.

According to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, in people with CF, a defective gene and its protein product cause the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections. The condition also obstructs the pancreas to stop natural enzymes from helping the body break down food and absorb vital nutrients. About 1,000 new cases are diagnosed each year and more than 75% of those with CF are diagnosed by age 2.

"There is still no cure for this devastating disease,” shares Jennifer Schuler. “By walking, I am helping add tomorrows to the lives of people living with Cystic Fibrosis.”
