Julie Darby and the Run to Remember 5K
Lend Your Support to the Run to Remember 5K in New York, NY!
We’re often inspired by our Carrington associates and the myriad ways they step up to serve their community, and honor those who fight for the freedom and security of our country. One such associate, Julie Darby, from our Aliso Viejo offices, is combining both to run in the “Run to Remember” 5K in New York, NY, on Sunday, April 24. And she needs your help!
Julie is running the memorial race in honor of her cousin, police officer James Leahy, and all of the service men and women who stepped up to help during the attacks on New York City on 9/11. Julie’s participation is also a personal challenge that she set a goal to surmount. “I had knee surgery last year that took several months to recover from,” she shares. “This run was my goal and motivation; and I feel very blessed to be healthy enough to participate in this event and honor my cousin.”
Julie is actively working to raise funds for the race, with the proceeds benefiting the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. The 9/11 Memorial and Museum are tributes to the past and a place of hope for the future, remembering and honoring those whose lives were taken as the result of the terrorist attack. Says Julie, “The Museum captures the enormity of the events of that tragic day, while the reflecting pools provide a place of tranquility and calm. It is important for this site to carry on for future generations, and make sure the victims will always be remembered.”
To help Julie raise funds for the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, and to help her reach her goals and run the race in New York, please give generously by visiting her fundraising page here.
Let’s honor those who tragically passed as a result of 9/11, and those who heroically stepped up to be of service on that fateful day.
