OC Stand Down Volunteer Event

October 13, 2014

Carrington volunteers offered their support to the "OC Stand Down" event benefiting military members on September 26th, 27th and 28th in Tustin, California.

The Orange County Stand Down is a 3-day event in which homeless or at-risk veterans and their families are transported from various locations in Orange County into one location set up like a military base camp. They then receive basic social services and healthcare from various government agencies, non-profits, and sponsoring companies. Over 300 homeless veterans in the Orange County area were helped during the event and were given dental and medical care, job placement and housing assistance, clothing and other services.

Volunteers assisted with set-up, administrative functions, registration, and directional assistance.  Carrington volunteer Kimberly Currin shares, “spending the day with these brave individuals made such a difference and I know all the volunteers were truly touched and honored to serve those who have served and sacrificed for us.”
