Thank You for Helping Animals in Need
CCF held its annual in-kind animal drive in Santa Ana and Aliso Viejo, collecting collars, dog food, cat food, blankets, toys, buckets, and other items to give to animals in need at the Norco Animal Shelter and the OC Humane Society. Associates generously gave to help improve the lives of animals residing in the shelters as they wait to be adopted into permanent homes.
Founded in 1949, the Orange County Humane Society provides a temporary safe refuge for injured, abused and lost animals. They strive to find permanent, loving homes for all of their animals and provide a caring environment until they are placed with a proper family. They also offer classes and programs that educate the community on pet ownership and the responsibility that comes along with it, as well as basic pet safety.
The city of Norco - Animal Control Division operates an animal shelter for housing stray animals. Many dogs, cats, puppies and kittens are turned into the shelter as strays each year and then are not claimed by their owners.
Did you know these facts about animal shelters and pet ownership, according to the ASPCA?
◾Five to seven million animals enter shelters nationwide every year
◾25 percent of dogs who enter local shelters are purebred
◾About 62 percent of all households in the United States have a pet
◾More than 20 percent of people who leave dogs in shelters adopted them from a shelter
Thank you to everyone who donated for your willingness to help animals in need in the community. Your donations truly make a difference to these nonprofit shelters and their mission to care for animals.
