Carroll Walker

December 1, 1934 – December 29, 2015

The Carrington Charitable Foundation family is taking this opportunity to help one of our friends and dedicated supporters during what is a difficult time for he and his family. Mark Johnson, an avid supporter of CCF, lost his mother, Carroll Walker, on December 29th, 2015. CCF is hosting a memorial fund in Carroll Walker’s honor. All funds donated to Carroll Walker’s Memorial Fund will be directed towards our Military Activities and Support.

Carroll Sue Walker died peacefully in Costa Mesa, California on December 29, 2015 at the age of eighty-one. Carroll is survived by her children and their families; Steve, Mark, David, Bill, Kelly Jean, James and Cheryl. Carroll is preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) E. Walker.

Carroll was born on December 1, 1934 in Springfield, Missouri to Earl N. and Imogene C. Harman. Carroll was a graduate of Drury College in Springfield, Missouri obtaining a liberal arts degree. She loved writing and taught high school shortly after graduation until she married John R. Johnson and started her family. Together, they raised three boys, Steve, Mark and David.

In 1987, Carroll was remarried to Bill Walker and welcomed his four children, Bill, Kelly Jean, James and Cheryl. Bill and Carroll remained together until Bill’s death in 2007.

Carroll loved to paint, sew and quilt. Her works were sold at craft festivals and shows for many years. Carroll was also a lifelong member and supporter of PEO, a woman’s philanthropic organization.

The family would like to offer its sincere appreciation to the caregivers at Freedom Village in Lake Forest, CA for providing so many years of attentive care and a very special thank-you to the caregivers at Country Gardens Terrace in Costa Mesa who so warmly assisted Carroll and the family during her final weeks, days and hours.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to the Carrington Charitable Foundation (www.carringtoncf.org) in her name. Carroll was a lifelong supporter of the soldiers who put their lives on the line daily for the rest of us. CCF works closely with injured soldiers returning home from the battlefield.

A memorial service will be held in Carroll's honor on February 26, 2016 at 11:00 am in the pavilion at Freedom Village, 23442 El Toro Drive, Lake Forest, CA 92630
