Trainers for a Cause Get Fit and Fundraise
Carrington Charitable Foundation’s Trainers for a Cause are back and on the move to make a difference to wounded Veterans and their families. Each year, Carrington Associates dust off their running shoes, set their stop-watches and make a commitment to train for a 5K or half marathon and fundraise for a worthy cause in the community.
This year, our Trainers for a Cause team will be running in the Orange County Half Marathon and the Wahoo’s OC 5K Run/Walk on May 5th, raising funds for two causes Carrington Charitable Foundation takes great pride in supporting; the Veterans Airlift Command (VAC) and Carrington House.
The VAC is an organization that provides private air transportation to wounded veterans of Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) through a network of aircraft owners and pilots. Donations raised will help support the Veterans Airlift Command Foundation and their efforts. For more information, visit their website at www.veteransairlift.org.
Carrington House provides transitional housing for wounded veterans, reuniting them with their families during their rehabilitation and therapy phases to help them transition back into society. This program works with partners to provide housing near key medical hospital and rehabilitation centers.
“Whether it’s a 14 minute mile or a 7 minute mile, it is still a mile,” shares Mark Phillips, CCF Advisory Committee Member and Trainers for a Cause Team Captain. “We are happy to have both walkers and runners committed to train for the 5K and half marathon and proud to participate in a cause that supports our wounded heroes and their families who have sacrificed so much protecting our freedom.”
