Washington Redskins Military Appreciation Day

November 24, 2014

One of the many attractive live auction packages featured at our 4th Annual CCF Golf Classic was the Washington Redskins Military Appreciation Football Experience. The lucky winners got to attend the Salute to Service Military Appreciation Game on November 16th with one of our Honored Veterans, as well as meet Bruce Allen, President and General Manager of the Washington Redskins. The package was generously purchased by Jeff Freud, CEO of LoanMarket.net and his wife Christy, and raised $20,000 for our golf classic. Michael Frazier, a Veteran close to CCF, and his wife Monica were chosen to join the winners, as well as LoanMarket.net’s president, Bryan Murphy and his wife Michelle. Together they were all able to enjoy this game dedicated to honoring our United States service members from an executive suite and were given a celebratory reception. This package helped CCF raise over $1.4 million which directly benefits CCF’s Carrington House, Veterans Airlift Command, and Gary Sinise Foundation.

Redskins 1USMC Sgt Michael Frazier served seven years in the Marine Corps, with four combat deployments throughout Iraq spanning from 2005-2011.  While out on patrol during his last deployment to Afghanistan in 2011, Michael stepped on a pressure plate IED.  The blast resulted in the loss of both legs and much of the use of his right arm, while also suffering internal damage.  During his recovery at the Bethesda Naval Hospital, Michael met his wife Monica, who worked as a Naval Corpsman.  They were married in October of 2012 and are expecting their first baby soon.  Michael retired from the Marine Corps in Dec. of 2012.  Currently Michael enjoys hand-cycling and hopes to get into the Paralympics one day.  He also serves as a motivational speaker to other Veterans.
