Welcome to Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month
May is here, and we’re shifting our focus this month to a new charitable pursuit: Cystic Fibrosis Awareness! If you’re unfamiliar with this disease, here’s a little background: it’s a genetic ailment that affects the lungs, pancreas and other organs, creating a thick buildup of mucous that blocks airways and traps bacteria. This can lead to life-threatening illnesses, lung infections and limits one’s ability to breathe. 30,000 Americans are living with cystic fibrosis, with 1,000 new cases reported each year – and more than 10 million Americans are symptomless carriers of the CF gene. Learn more about cystic fibrosis here.
If you volunteer with cystic fibrosis charities, or if you’re affected by this disease, please share your experiences with us. Let’s raise awareness for this terrible disease and lend support to everyone it affects!
