2nd Annual Carrington Charitable Foundation Golf Classic Raises $1.2 Million

Funds Will Support Veterans Airlift Command, Carrington House, Other Select Charities
 
Carrington Charitable Foundation is proud to announce that the 2nd Annual Carrington Charitable Foundation Golf Classic held at the Resort at Pelican Hill on October 15th soared past its goal to net one million dollars and raised over $1.2 million—of which $400,000 will go to the Veterans Airlift Command (VAC) to support its mission of providing free private aircraft transportation to severely wounded warriors and their families. Funds raised at the event will also support the new Carrington House project, CCF’s program aimed at providing free transitional housing to wounded veterans and their families during the post-hospitalization phase of rehabilitation.

Throughout the entire event, the focus concentrated on the Veterans and the extraordinary sacrifices they have made for our country. Dinner attendees heard stories of their injuries and unfailing courage, and their perseverance making a difference in the lives of others injured in combat. From the morning activities, when over 200 golfers teed off on Pelican’s two golf courses, to the Silent and Live Evening Auctions, to the evening dinner program featuring Veteran speakers, the day proved to be memorable for everyone in attendance. Veterans, vendors, and volunteers came together for the cause to raise awareness for the VAC and understand the crucial work they do for Veterans and their families during times of great emotional need.

“We are very passionate about the Veterans Airlift Command and the work they do to unite troops with their families,” shares Rosemary Rose. “I cannot begin to express my gratitude to all the Carrington Associates who volunteered, donated or assisted with the Golf Classic – without your efforts we could not have made such an impact on this cause to help those that have sacrificed so much protecting our freedom.”

Carrington House: Addressing a Crucial Need among Wounded Military

Carrington Holding Company's flight operations subsidiary, Peregrine Jet, has supported VAC’s critical mission of connecting troops and their families in times of need by donating flight services, fuel, insurance and crew for the past six years. This involvement increased CCF’s awareness of another crucial need among wounded military – a lack of appropriate housing for rehabilitating Veterans and their families near the facilities where they were being treated.

To meet this need, CCF created Carrington House and is partnering with financial institutions to provide donations of real estate owned properties located near key military hospitals and rehabilitation treatment centers. The first “Carrington House” property, which was donated by Bank of America, is located near the Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base in San Diego and additional properties are scheduled to follow in 2013.

The Carrington House project will unite the Carrington family of companies to work together to support this critical need:
◾White Van Real Estate Services will modify properties with the necessary accommodations to meet the special needs of wounded warriors in an effort to expedite their recovery and transition back into mainstream society.
◾Carrington Property Services will manage the properties once they’ve been repaired.
◾CCF will assume all property renovation expenses, major ongoing maintenance and repair, property taxes and insurance, property management expenses, as well as administrative expenses for the program.
